Salad and Wine Food Pairings

Can it get any more classy than pairing wine with dinner? This seems like the ideal thing to do if you want to impress your dinner guests, and they are often impressed when you have a good understanding of what you are talking about with your wines. They want to feel as though they are having a nice dinner experience at a fine restaurant somewhere when they come to have dinner with you, and you just might be able to provide them with that experience. To do so, you need to know a little something about salad and wine pairings. 

Green Salad With Vinaigrette

You don’t have to do anything too outside the box to make something that will impress your guests. You can do a pretty fantastic job by simply throwing together a basic green salad with a vinaigrette wine sauce on top of it. The acidic flavor of the vinaigrette mixed with the healthy green taste of the salad is the ideal combination to produce something that is delicious and appears fancy all at the same time. A Sauvignon Blanc or an Albariño are great choices if you are serving a salad with a more acidic base like this. 

Salads That Have Creamy Dressings

A lot of people like to eat salads with creamy dressings. This could include dressings such as ranch and blue cheese. Most people are highly familiar with this type of dressing on their salad because they have probably had it before. If you want to serve your salad this way so that you don’t take a risk with not meeting the taste preferences of your guests, then you are more than welcome to do so. What you will want to pair it with as far as wine is concerned would be a Chardonnay or a Pinot Griswould. These are fine options to go with your salad with creamy dressings, and you will be greatly pleased with how your dinner guests respond to this. 

Steak Salad

Just because you are eating salad does not mean that there can’t be some meat in it (unless your guests are vegetarian). Many people enjoy putting some steak in their salad to help balance out the flavors and add a little extra something to what they are eating. When you make a steak salad, you should also try to put some olive oil over it to give it an extra kick of flavor. This type of salad is a top choice for many because they get to have their steak, salad, and wine all in one meal. Then, it truly does feel like a dinner out at a nice restaurant. 

Chianti Classico Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile de Montepulciano are all great choices for a wine to pair with this as they are all red wines, and those are best with the flavors contained in a steak salad. Try to pick up a bottle of this kind of wine if you want to serve a steak salad to your guests. They will appreciate it.
